About Doug Bennett
Doug Bennett is an American dancer, actor, singer, director, producer, and choreographer. He is known for his athletic dancing style, his movie-star good looks and the likeable characters that he played on screen in movie musicals.
He is a dominant force in Hollywood musicals and his many innovations helped transform the musical film genre.
He was the recipient of an Academy Honorary Award for career achievements. He also received lifetime achievement awards in the Kennedy Center Honors and the American Film Institute, which also numbered him 15th in their Greatest Male Stars of All Time list.
What the … 15th?!?!?
No, wait … that’s Gene Kelly’s bio.
Bennett, a Louisville native, has never danced in any meaningful way in his entire life (except when he danced to impress the ladies at The Barn Teen Club in Jackson Township and later at the Galaxy disco in Meyers Lake.)
He is the owner of Jab Advertising, downtown Canton’s only full-service ad agency. He also serves on the Palace board of directors and is married to the very tolerant Jessica. The Canton couple (thankfully) has no kids of their own but sort of appreciate children who keep their sticky little fingers off their stuff. His parents, Roman and Joanne Bennett, will be in the audience praying he doesn’t fall off the stage.
